Almanac is a mentorship playbook for you, the parent — a calm way to be intentional about your child's whole-person growth. It is never a report card for your child. Here are the questions we hear most.

The basics

What is this app for?

It helps you notice, choose, and gently tend a small set of things you want to nurture in your child — across many areas of development. Each area is a plot in your garden; each milestone or habit is a tree you help grow by showing up.

Is this for my child to use?

No. Almanac has no child-facing mode. Your child appears only as a portrait, never as a score or a game piece.

How often should I use it?

Two or three check-ins a week is plenty. The app is built for a light touch. There is nothing to fall behind on.

Growth & tending

Why are there no streaks or daily reminders?

On purpose. We never use streaks, chains, or guilt. If you step away for a month and come back, you'll see nothing negative — just where you left off.

How do trees grow?

They grow as you tend them — logging a small moment, a habit practiced, a milestone reached. Growth shows only through your garden: trees maturing, plots filling in. There are no points, levels, or badges.

Why can I only have a few active goals per area?

Restraint is a feature. Each area holds just two or three active milestones at a time, so you can be present with a few things instead of overwhelmed by many. You can always finish one and plant another.

Suggestions & content

Where do suggestions come from?

From a curated library, matched to your child's age. Suggestions are only ever offered — nothing is added to your garden unless you choose it.

Can I add my own?

Yes. You can create your own milestones and habits alongside the library ones.

Memories

What happens to my photos and notes?

They're kept safe. Memories are never deleted as a side effect of anything else — not when you finish a milestone, remove an item, or tidy up. Removing something only unlinks it; the memory itself stays.

Why can I only add a photo to a milestone?

Photos mark reached milestones — a captured moment. Habits are for written notes instead.

Account & data

How do I change my child's details?

Settings › Family › tap the child.

How do I sign out or delete my account?

Both are in Settings › Account. Deleting your account removes your family profile and data. See our Privacy Policy for how deletion and retention work.
